Wilson College (The Mackichan Hall), Bombay

Built between 1935 and 1946, the Mackiechan Hall was to be the Hostel for the Wilson College students. The complex is aranged in the form of three wings (built in phases), and they surround a central courtyard space. The primary building material was Malad Stone, which was locally available. The exposed stone style resemble the Gothic universities of Britain. The chajjas and the cornice bands extend throughout the façade, giving the form a sense of horizontality.
