Batley designed the baug so that the wings of the colony all overlook a central courtyard (“garden”)-and at the end of the courtyard, the agiary was placed. The concept was to convey that the place of worship is central to the Parsi lifestyle, and that it should have been easy to access from the different parts of the inner complex.
