National Sports Club of India, Bombay/Delhi

Designed for the NSCI in 1950 as theMumbai wing of the Delhi based National Sports Club. Originally, the club had just a club house & vast velodrome stadium named after Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The foundation stone of a proper & well developed club house complex was laid by Shri Y. B. Chavan, First Chief Minister of Maharashtra, on May 17, 1957. The Club began with few sports such as tennis, badminton & regular bouts of free style wrestling competitions. For many years, Dara Singh & King Kong were household names associated with Vallabhbhai Patel Stadium which also had a cycling track. It was only in the 80’s that real spurt took place in improving the facilities & extending sports activities in the club. It initiated setting up facilities for Billiards, Table Tennis, Badminton, Carrom and well-equipped Ladies & Gents Health clubs along with coaching classes in various games, including judo, Karate & Aerobics.
