In October 1957 luminaries like Shri B.G.Kher, Shri Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Shri G.B.Pant, Raj Kumari Amrit Kaur, Shri J.R.D. Tata, Dr. Zakir Husain, Trustees of the Gandhi Smarak Nidhi, The Bombay Mill owner’s Association and the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation & Government of Bombay resolved to provide funds and start the Mahatama Gandhi Memorial Trust Hospital to cater to the health needs of industrial workers. And thus, the MGM Hospital was constructed.
