Designed for the sister of Kasturbhai Lalbhai ,the famed Industrialist. The Mansion shares quite a few design cues from Lalbhai’s Bombay residence (another Batley creation), albeit slightly larger and more ornate. The asymmetrical plan and layout went hand in hand with Batley’s heterogenous approach to form and material.The ground floor contains the solid mass of the building,with an airy, light super structure on the upper floors.
